So the lunch club is officially up and running and the first contender is Rivington street’s bar/club Cargo.

It was a dreary day in Shoreditch so we opted to eat inside but the place has a great outside terrace perfect for a summer’s day sunning. The offer at the time of visiting was a £5 lunch special. The Shredded pork burrito was our first choice but was also everyone else’s apparantly, so we resorted to the back-up: Pan-roasted Cajun-blackened catfish fillet with chunky chips, blanched peas and tartare sauce, washed down with a pint of Amstel.
So to the scores (out of 10 remember):
Speed of service: A reasonable service, smile included – 7
Quality: The catfish was great and with the cajun spice, a nice twist to the British favourite – 8
Quantity: Not an abundance but certainly a stomach full – 7
Location: About 5 minutes – 7
Value: £5 lunch menu wins us over – 9
And a 5 point bonus for fish and chips on the menu bringing Cargo’s total score to: 43/55
So a decent score for the first lunch review, with Cargo proving clubs can offer treats for your mouth as well as your ears.
